File Management Basics
File management is SetFN's most fundamental feature. It comes with the capabilities a document management system (DMS) needs built in, such as version control, edit locking, and change history.
On the surface it may look similar to Windows Explorer or macOS Finder, but it hides very convenient and powerful features underneath.
As you use it the way you're already used to, you'll naturally discover the features that make SetFN unique.
Basic file operations — uploading, creating, editing, and deleting — work in a way similar to Explorer, Finder, or Google Drive.
- Upload: Drag and drop, or "Create" > "Upload File." Dragging a whole folder preserves its structure.
- Create: Instantly create files in various formats such as txt, md, and html from the "Create" button.
- Edit: Double-click a file to modify it with the built-in editor. Save with Ctrl+S.
- Delete: Press Delete to move to Trash. Emptying Trash deletes permanently.
- Copy/Move: Ctrl+C / Ctrl+X then Ctrl+V, or drag and drop
- Multi-select: Click while holding Ctrl; hold Shift and click for range selection
These are features quietly layered on top of familiar file management.
