Register disk files
Create system metadata for files and folders copied directly to the server disk. Source files and existing registrations are preserved.
When the menu appears
In the file list, select one file or folder without metadata, then right-click and choose Register disk files. You need permission to modify that item.
The menu is hidden for registered items and multiple selections. If a registered folder contains unregistered items, open it and select the unregistered file or subfolder directly.
Register an item
- Right-click the file or folder in the file list.
- Choose Register disk files.
- Check the target path at the top of the dialog. For a folder, set the registration options.
- Click Start registration.
- Check the registered, skipped, and failed counts when the job finishes.
Opening the dialog does not start registration.
Folder options
| Option | Description |

| Include subfolders | Scan subfolders recursively. When disabled, scan the selected folder and its immediate children only. |
| Target extensions | Enter comma-separated extensions, such as xml, pdf, txt. Leave empty to include all regular files. |
These options are hidden when you select a file; only that file is registered. The extension filter applies to files. Folders within the scan scope are also eligible for registration.
Read the results
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Scanned | Number of file and folder entries checked. |
| Registered | Entries for which new metadata was created. |
| Skipped | Entries already registered or excluded by extension, permission, or other processing conditions. |
| Failed | Entries that encountered a registration error. Check the last error message for details. |
Registered 0 / Skipped 3 means no new entries were registered and three entries were skipped. These counts alone do not indicate an error.
Close or stop a job
- Close dismisses the dialog. An active registration job continues running.
- Click Stop to stop the job. Entries already registered are preserved.
- Registration does not overwrite source files or trigger upload automation.
- Registration completion does not mean AI knowledge indexing is complete. Knowledge indexing follows its own settings and processing status.
