Plugin Overview

Plugins are extension packages that add the features you need to SetFN SpaceBuilder. Just like installing an app on a smartphone, you can add only the features you need. Combining plugins such as Calendar, Email, and Workflow lets your workspace function as a company intranet and internal portal all in one.

Before You Begin

  • Required permission: Administrator (plugin installation and activation are done on the admin page under Plugins > Extension Plugins)

How to Install Plugins

  1. Check the SetFN plugin site for the plugin you want to use.
  2. Review the plugin's description, supported versions, required license, and system requirements.
  3. Download the plugin you need.
  4. Install the plugin from the admin page.
  5. Enable the plugin using the toggle switch on the Extension Plugins screen.
  6. Complete the plugin's initial setup, then start using it in SpaceBuilder.

You can check the status of installed plugins on the admin page. If a problem occurs, disable the plugin or check its version and reconfigure it.

Plugin Types

SetFN plugins can be divided by purpose into Basic Plugins, Extension Plugins, and Industry Plugins.

Basic Plugins

Basic plugins are features that connect naturally with the general collaboration flow of a SetFN workspace.

Calendar is classified close to a basic collaboration feature because it is often used together with file activity or team schedules.

Extension Plugins

Extension plugins are business features that many organizations can use regardless of industry. They aren't specific to any one industry — like email, automation, or AI training — but installing them significantly expands what you can do with SetFN.

Extension plugins are best thought of as features that boost general work productivity. They aren't tied to a specific industry and can be used repeatedly across many teams and organizations.

Industry Plugins

Industry plugins are designed around the workflows and regulations of a specific industry. Beyond simply adding features, they also provide the data structures, permissions, audit trails, and dedicated screens required in that field.

For example, EDC is not just a simple data-entry form feature — it includes industry-specific requirements such as clinical research data entry, site management, and audit trails, which naturally puts it in the industry plugin category.

Good to Know

  • Only administrators can install or remove plugins.
  • Supported versions and system requirements may differ from plugin to plugin.
