EDC Introduction

EDC (Electronic Data Capture) is a system for electronically collecting and managing research data. It's mainly used in research such as clinical trials. Rather than building a separate system from scratch, SetFN's EDC plugin runs on top of the user management, file management, and email infrastructure already set up in your SetFN workspace.

Why Use It Together with SetFN

A typical EDC solution requires running user accounts, document storage, and communication as separate systems. SetFN EDC reuses the following as-is:

• User management: Team members already registered in your space are registered directly as EDC users. There's no need to issue separate accounts or build an authentication server.
• File management integration: Source documents such as consent forms and test results can be kept as workspace files and linked directly to the data entered in the CRF. Data and source materials are never kept apart.
• Email integration: Notifications such as query creation and data modification arrive through the email already connected to your workspace.

Screen Layout

The left sidebar lets you move between CRF (data entry), Subjects (subject list), Overview, and Activity Log.

Good to Know

• Since EDC handles research data, be sure to clearly configure roles and permissions for each user before use.
• The documents below use "clinical trial" research data as the reference example.
