SetFN SpaceBuilder — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern the download, installation, and use of the SetFN SpaceBuilder software (the “Software”) developed by SetFN.
By downloading or using the Software, you agree to these Terms.

Core Principles

  • All files are stored on the user’s own computer. SetFN cannot access your files.
  • Administration—including user and file management—is the user’s responsibility.
  • If the host PC is turned off, no one can access the files.

Operator & Users

  • Operator: the person who installs SpaceBuilder, invites others, and manages permissions.
  • Users: participants invited by the Operator.
  • Ownership and copyrights follow the Operator’s internal policy. SetFN does not mediate related disputes.

Licensing & Activation

  • Features may vary depending on free/paid license policies.
  • For license activation, the Software communicates minimal data (e.g., license key, user ID) with our servers.
  • When using external access (*.setfn.me), SetFN acts solely as a proxy and does not store your data.

Beta Services

  • Beta features may be unstable and may change without notice.
  • Back up important data separately.
  • SetFN is not responsible for issues arising from Beta use.

Responsibility & Support

  • Installation, operation, and data management are your responsibility.
  • Bug reports or technical support are provided only with your consent.
  • SetFN is not liable for damages resulting from your use of the Software.

Changes to Terms

  • Updates will be posted on the download page and take effect upon posting.

1. Software Provision and Purpose

  1. SetFN SpaceBuilder is software developed and provided by SetFN (the “Provider”) to support file management and collaboration for individuals, teams, and organizations.
  2. The Software runs in environments installed and operated directly by the user or Operator (e.g., a user’s PC or server).
  3. After installation, the Provider does not involve itself in file/data management, user management, or operational issues.

2. Definitions: Operator and Users

  1. Operator means the party who installs and administers the Software. The Operator:
    1. performs installation and initial configuration;
    2. invites Users to the SpaceBuilder and manages their access rights;
    3. manages SpaceBuilder content, data security settings, and user activity;
    4. is responsible for the operating environment (e.g., server/host).
      The Operator holds the highest administrative privileges, and the Provider does not oversee the Operator’s actions.
  2. Users are individuals or entities invited by the Operator to participate in a SpaceBuilder. Users may:
    1. store or share content in the SpaceBuilder;
    2. use collaboration tools to interact with others.
      Users retain ownership of their own content and decide whether to delete or share it. User activities are managed by the Operator; the Provider does not access or supervise such activities. The Operator may also be a User.

3. Ownership of User Content and Access Rights

  1. Ownership. All content stored or processed by the Software belongs to the respective users. The Provider claims no rights in such content and has no authority to use or manage it.
  2. No Provider Access. The Software operates only in the environment installed and operated by the user or Operator. The Provider has no permission—nor technical capability—to access that environment. All content is managed directly by the Operator; the Provider exercises no control.
  3. Copyright and Intellectual Property. Ownership, copyright, and IP matters relating to files within a SpaceBuilder follow the Operator’s internal policies. The Provider does not mediate disputes among users or between a user and an Operator, and bears no responsibility for alleged IP infringement, copyright disputes, or disclosure of confidential information occurring within the SpaceBuilder.

4. Operational and Administrative Responsibility

  1. Role of the Operator. The user/Operator who installs the Software is solely responsible for installation and operation. Accounts created through the Software, stored data, and user activity logs are administered entirely by the Operator.
  2. Operator–User Relationship. These Terms address use of the Software itself. The relationship between an Operator and individual users within a SpaceBuilder is governed by the Operator’s own rules and policies. The Provider does not participate in or review an Operator’s decisions.

5. License Management and Server Communications

  1. The Software may be used under the Provider’s free/paid license policies.
    • For paid licenses, fees and conditions are set out in a separate agreement or order form.
    • For free licenses, usage is limited to features and scope allowed by the Provider.
  2. During operation, the Software may communicate with the Provider’s servers (SetFN) for license management and activation.
    • Communications are for validating license status, authenticating users, and checking for updates.
    • Only minimal information necessary for license management (e.g., license key, user ID) is transmitted and used solely for that purpose.
  3. SetFN.me Proxy. For paid services or when enabled, the Software may establish a proxy connection between the setfn.me domain and the user’s PC. The Provider acts only as a conduit and does not access or store user/Operator data.

6. Bugs and Technical Support

  1. Feedback Requests. To improve quality and stability, the Provider may request feedback about bugs or issues encountered while using the Software. Such requests occur only with the user’s consent. Where needed, the user may provide logs or information necessary to troubleshoot.
  2. User Role. Users provide feedback information only if they agree to do so, and the Provider will use it solely to resolve issues. The Provider will not request or collect any bug-related information without user consent.

7. Beta Services and Trial Operation

7.1 Definition

  1. The Provider may offer some features as Beta or trial versions.
  2. Beta services aim to validate functionality and gather user feedback prior to general release.

7.2 Characteristics and Limitations

  1. Stability. Beta features may include unexpected errors, interruptions, or performance degradation. The Provider does not guarantee stability or continuity.
  2. Feature Changes. During Beta, features may be added, modified, or removed without notice. UI and usage may change.
  3. Data Compatibility. Data generated in Beta may not be compatible with the general release. Users should maintain separate backups of important data.

7.3 Obligations of Beta Users

  1. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on issues or improvements.
  2. Users should understand Beta characteristics and use caution for critical workloads or data.

7.4 End of Beta and Transition

  1. The Provider may end Beta at any time or transition features to general availability.
  2. Where feasible, the Provider will give prior notice and guidance on data transition.

7.5 Beta Disclaimer

  1. The Provider is not responsible for data loss, business interruption, or other damages resulting from Beta use.
  2. Beta is provided “AS IS” without any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Limitation of the Provider’s Liability

  1. Responsibility for issues arising during download, installation, and operation of the Software lies with the user or Operator.
  2. The Provider is not liable for data loss, legal disputes, or damages resulting from use of the Software.
  3. In the event of legal issues arising from use of the Software, all responsibility rests with the user; the Provider bears no legal liability.

9. Changes to These Terms and Notices

  1. The Provider may amend these Terms as needed. Updated Terms will be posted on the Software download page.
  2. Changes take effect upon posting, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute will be resolved by the courts having jurisdiction over the Provider’s principal place of business.

The Provider cannot access or manage user content. Where necessary for smooth operation and troubleshooting, the Provider may request feedback only with the user’s consent.
